Hyperlocal Stock Exchange — discover and exchange local abundance
We don't have an abundance problem. We have a discovery problem.
Every neighbourhood grows, makes and keeps more than it uses. One home has more milk than it can drink today. Another has a gourd vine giving twenty gourds a week. A third has a lemon tree that fruits all at once. A few doors away, someone is paying for the very same things, brought in from far away, packed and processed.
HLSE connects those homes. Post what you have in stock, see what is around you, and sell it, exchange it or give it away to someone within walking distance. Home-grown food, fresh milk, or just about anything you have in abundance.
What we want HLSE to do
Keep good food close to home. In a world of chemical and processed food, neighbours help each other eat what was grown naturally, a short walk away.
Be a stock exchange the neighbourhood runs itself. Completely decentralised: every household can be a grower, a seller and a buyer. You set your own price and deal directly with your neighbour.
Make it easy. Post in a minute, talk on WhatsApp or a call, hand over in person.
Find a use for everything of value. What is surplus in one home is exactly what another home is looking for.
Abundance is more than vegetables
Pooja and decoration flowers. We use flowers almost every day, and the next morning they are thrown away. Post them. Someone nearby can turn them into organic manure, incense sticks, flower tea or natural colour. Give them free, exchange them, or sell them if you find a buyer.
Milk, and everything made from it. Today's extra litre, or the curd, ghee, paneer and buttermilk made at home.
The seasonal rush. Mangoes, jackfruit, lemons, bananas, coconuts and gourds ripen all together. Post the surplus while it is fresh.
Cow dung and kitchen scraps. Dung, vegetable peels and rice water become compost, manure, fuel cakes or biogas in someone else's garden or field.
Seeds, saplings and cuttings. Saved seeds, extra seedlings, a cutting of curry leaf, tulsi or marigold for a neighbour starting a kitchen garden.
Leaves and stems. Banana leaves for serving a feast, banana stem, betel leaves, bamboo.
Straw, husk and fodder. Paddy straw, rice husk and cut grass feed cattle, mulch a field or grow mushrooms.
Coconut shells and husk. Fuel, coir, scrubbers and planters for someone who works with them.
From the home kitchen and backyard. Eggs, honey, pickles, jaggery, puffed rice, home-ground spices.
When you need something
A blood donor. A neighbour in hospital needs blood. Post the blood group, the hospital and the date. A donor nearby calls you and gives at the hospital's own blood centre, for a real person they know of. Always free.
A worker for the day. A plumber, a mason, help at home. Post it in the morning, and someone nearby who is free today calls you.
Anything else. Two kilos of tomatoes for tonight, banana leaves for a feast. Say what you need and let the neighbourhood answer.
How it works
Post what you have with a photo, a quantity and a price. Or mark it for exchange, or free.
Find nearby shows what the homes around you have right now.
Talk and meet. Agree on WhatsApp or a call, and hand over in person.
Record it. The seller marks it sold and the buyer confirms. Both of you get a running record of what you sold and bought, by month, quarter and year.
